Q. Describe the role you play in the production of The Gold Fish Bowl.
I am playing the role of Lisa in the production of the Gold Fish Bowl. She is the friend and neighbour to
Mara and genuinely cares about her neighbours’ well being. She has a strong relationship with Lennon
and wishes to help the family by being a safe person to confide in and lean on for support.
Q. What are your special talents, passions you bring to your work on the movie?
I am a first year film student at Fanshawe College. I hope to bring the knowledge I have surmised in the
past year to help with the production to my greatest abilities. I look forward to learning from all the rest
of the cast and crew and will gain more experience with this film.
Q. How do you want your character to connect with viewers?
I think Lisa role is important for further humanizing the Winter family and to show how life can
sometimes be difficult to get through and having a support base is important.
Q. Explain how your character perceives the Winter family.
Lisa genuinely cares for Lennon and wants to be helpful for Mara. She is willing to stay by the family’s
side in such a troubling time. She understands the members of the family from a personal perspective
and can have more insight into their lives because of it.
Q. Should viewers feel sorry for Mara Winter? Why? Why not?
I think the role of Mara transcends the idea of whether or not the viewers should feel sorry for her. She
is not a character to be pitied, but shows a deeply human reaction to the events in her life. She is trying
to navigate them at the best she possibly can.
Q. Derek Winter is a complex professional, husband, father. What drives his complexities?
Derrick’s complexities are formed because he is a man who has lost his place in the world. He know
longer understands how to live as a husband and his family is falling apart around him because of his
Q. What are the challenges in playing your character?
This will be my first time acting for a film. I think because the cast and crew is so strong, the most
difficult part of playing my character will be to fully immerse myself in the acting experience.
Q. Your fav sf flick, fantasy flick, animated, romance………?
I am a bigger believer in watching many different films from many genres to further expand my
knowledge and capacity of understanding for film. Some of my favourite movies include Singin’ In the
Rain, The Princess Bride, Spirited Away, Scott Pilgrim Vs the World, and 8 ½.
Q. Favourite directors, favourite scores, soundtracks?
Some of my favourite directors include Hayao Miyazaki, John Hughes, Edgar Wright, the Coens, Wes
Anderson, and Quentin Tarantino. I enjoy the soundtracks of many musicals including, Moulin Rouge,
Singin’ in the Rain, Little Shop of Horrors, White Christmas, and Grease.
